Installation
sudo apt install simple-scan
Scanning

Set the page size
Menu > Preferences > Scanning > Page Size

Set the resolution and document type depending on the type of document

Black-and-white text documents
- Menu > Preferences > Quality > Text Resolution > 300 dpi
- Click the button to the right of Scan > Text

Colour documents
- Menu > Preferences > Quality > Image Resolution > 300 dpi
- Click the button to the right of Scan > Image

Photos
Note: Tweak the DPI as needed for better image quality
- Menu > Preferences > Quality > Image Resolution > 1200 dpi
- Click the button to the right of Scan > Image

Insert the first page into the scanner and click Scan

If all the pages are the same size, crop the image after scanning the first page and it will apply to all subsequent pages

For each of the remaining pages, insert it into the scanner and click Scan

Click Save when you’ve scanned all the pages of the document
- Change the File Format as needed, e.g. PDF for documents or JPEG for photos

Click New Document if you have a new document to scan
